The efficiency of the generation modes of a compact pulsed powerful tunable dye laser is investigated in this work. As a result of theoretical calculations made using the technique developed in this work a "quasiequilibrium window" of the dye laser generation process was determined, which exhibits a significant growth of the generation efficiency. An original laboratory prototype of the nen compact powerful pulsed tunable dye laser was investigated, constructed and manufactured. It is equipped with a fiber-optical system for spatial forming, focusing and transporting of the laser beam info the operating zone. A working active dye mixture was calculated and investigated, that mode it possible to obtain high generation characteristics at an "exotic" wavelength of lambda=504 nm, that is weeded for laser shock lithotripsy of urates and calcites in practical urology. The laser developed was tested and showed good generation and operation characteristics. Possible practical applications of the laser are discussed.
