The paper presents the results of analytical investigations demonstrating the feasibility of a new type dynamic mass analyzer compatible with an energy analyzer. The mass analyzer operation is based on a combination of an ion source-converter, which converts the mass differences of ions in a monochromatic by energy beam into their ultimate energy differences, and a charged particle energy analyzer. Calculations of a variation of such mass analyzer and mathematical modeling of its operation gave the following characteristics: operating mass range: 1 to l000 a.m.u., relative resolution ~ 1000 for dimensions below 400 mm, possibility to combine mass spectrometry and charged particle energy analysis in a single instrument useful for diversity of research and practical applications.
