E.D.Makarova1, V.A.Kudryavtzeva2

The paper presents the principal ideas of environmental monitoring and the main problems of the water quality determination. The characteristiv propertios of natural waters (as the medium under investigation) and the salient features of the heavy metals (as the analyte) are considered. The possibility of the characterization of the mater quality with the use of modern physico-chemical methods and tests based on them is discussed.
