Two different centrifuges designed
at the Institute for Analytical Instrumentation RAS (St. Petersburg) and
Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry RAS
(Moscow) are considered. The main feature of both is the application of
a flexible hollow shaft for realizing the planetary motion of the coil
column and/or laying lines for liquids. This engineering solution has provided
higher reliability and lower acoustic noise of planetary centrifuges. Thanks
to the easy changing of the working parameters during the experimental
run the planetary centrifuges can be used both for investigation of the
hydrodynamic behavior of liquids in the coil columns and for development
and/or optimization of the chromatographic procedures for separation of
different substances.
