The paper describes an algorithm
and hardware of a digital extremum regulator which provides ignoring local
extrema, automatic search and tracking of the global maximum of a mass
spectral peak with an accuracy to within 0.0012 %, increased mass
scanning speed up to 200 a.m.u./s, and good stability of regulation at
a rate of 50 kHz.
